How many times do we overlook small steps as giant leaps of progress? When raising a child you are always excited by the milestones they accomplish during their lifetime no matter what age they maybe. However, as a parent of a special needs child those small steps are often they most celebrated because they means areas of improvement are taking place. There is not a day that goes by that I dont wish Caden could be making the progress other children his age are, but at the same time I am reminded of the blessing that God has provided for us and our family. The opportunity that each family of a special needs child has and that is witnessing the miracle of life and cherishing the small things in life that God provides. As a parent you learn many things, but as a parent of a special needs child those lessons learned are things many parents and families will not have the blessing or the opportunity to obtain.
That leads me to the point of Caden using his CPAP machine while sleeping, nights are times more restful, but he has managed to learn how to get the CPAP mask off when he decides he has had enough or its bugging him. He is now staying awake much more during the day, since he is resting better at night. That doesnt mean all small progress are large victories as we have seen the seizures began to change in style and nature over the past couple weeks. Again thank you for your prayers for Caden and us in our journey, as we watch God work and walk with Caden daily.
