Greetings to our Friends & Readers!
Caden and our family has had a busy month with doctors appointments and family activities taking place. One of Caden's older siblings has battled an eye infection and Caden's mom has battled the flu. Hopefully everyone else including Caden will not be affected by the flu or any other sickness.
Caden has been on the Keto Genetic Diet for almost three years now to try and help essentially rewire his brain in hopes to reduce the amount of seizure activity or make them completely disappear. The Keto diet has also been assisted with three to four epilepsy medications. When Caden first started the keto diet three years ago we did see some reduction in seizures, but have never been completely seizure free except for maybe a day.
His last neurology appointment after talking with his doctors it was determined the keto diet had probably done all it was going to do for Caden so it was time for him to be weened off the keto diet, began reducing one epilepsy med and the reduction and elimination of another med, which would be replaced by another med that would hopefully better control the epilepsy. As a parent this can always be a trying time because you never know how Caden or his body may react to such changes.
Caden is now one week away from being completely off the keto diet, and half way through one medicine ween, and has gone on separate occasions 4 days without a seizure, and another time 8 days without a seizure. We continue to pray that we see such positive reports and are able to see much more success as Caden moves forward with these new changes.
God Bless and Have a Great Weekend!!!
